GIRLSCHOOL FESTIVAL 2018
Girlschool Festival 2018 takes place February 2 – 4, 2018, at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. Weekend capacity is 1800 and daily capacity is 600, and the festival takes over all three rooms of the venue's footprint.
Girlschool is a three-day music and ideas festival that includes panels and workshops featuring 24 women-identified-led projects, plus speakers, educators, activists, and more. Net proceeds from ticket sales benefit a girl-positive 501c3 organization.
This year, our tentative beneficiary is WriteGirl.Org, which mentors girls through creative writing, and has a 100% success rate at getting teenage high school graduates into college via their mentorship program.
Girlschool has held two sold-out women-led annual festivals in Los Angeles, and this past March partnered with TOMS to bring a capsule version of our festival to SXSW that was at capacity all three days. In addition, Girlschool works with partners to create positive, women-forward artistic and intellectual experiences on the forefront of culture throughout the year.
Girlschool has worked with artists including KING, Chelsea Wolfe (who headlined the 2017 festival), Shirley Manson (headlining the 2018 festival), Gavin Turek, Miya Folick, the bird and the bee, Deap Vally, Bleached, Amber Coffman, Arima Ederra, Caroline Smith, Madame Gandhi, Phoebe Bridgers, and many more, and are an official curator for Red Bull Sound Select. Partners have included 3.1 Phillip Lim, Glenfiddich, Nasty Gal, Amy Poehler's Smart Girls, Lyft, KROQ, and many more.
